Lately I've just been crazy busy...school has really kicked into full swing for me and I'm taking more units than ever this semester (15) because I'm in a rush to finish up at the junior college and move on for the spring semester. So I'm taking 15 units and then still working 25-30 hours and week. If I need to study for anything I'm completely out of free time. Which means I'm not playing much poker and (obv) not really going to be posting in here. I wish I would post more...I still read everyone's blog fairly often, but just a lack of things to cover here.
The little big of poker I've been playing has been fairly good. I'm still building up the roll on stars...I took a couple shots at moving up in LHE and just got crushed, so I'm not sure what to do about that yet. I'm down like 50BBs over 900 hands, that's getting beaten pretty soundly. I'm running at least a little poorly, but I'm certainly not playing my best there. So I'm back down at my regular levels licking my wounds and recovering the roll right now. Something I have been experimenting with (at the lower levels) is 6-tabling full ring games. I seem to do pretty well at it right now, but we'll see how it all turns out long term. It'd be really cool if I could keep it up though because that would help me build my roll just as quickly even though I'm able to play less.
Here's a hand from some NL that I played recently that just shows me how much I've grown as a poker player since I first began playing:

Hey man how do you know he wasn't making a move on you. I would have made the same re-raise if I was him with any pair or even the flush draw
the reason that i felt so confident (it was an almost instant fold) was the fact that he wasn't the original better on the flop. if he was just calling with a draw initially he probably would have just called my small raise.
if he had raised the orignal bettor instead of flat calling then i'm probably going to jam here because it's much harder to put him on trips. but i can't put him on anything but trips or a boat the way he played it...if he is jamming here with a draw he's suicidal and i'm getting his money eventually anyway. i feel like this is similar to a limp/reraise play preflop, probably occasionally do it without AA or KK, but it's a really slim chance. so he may have just run a great bluff on me...but i don't think he's doing that often enough to make a call profitable here.
the real thing to note here is that there is no reason for him to think i'm folding. i played this hand the whole like i have an overpair and i just don't think he can ever assume i'm going to fold it which how much he has behind.
i got something like 3:1 on the call and i just didn't think his range was wide enough to call here...the only hand that i can really put him on that i'm in ok shape against is 6c7c and i'm not in that great of shape against that hand (though if i knew that was his hand i would call).
also to your point, if you're making bets like he did w/o a big hand i think it's a pretty bad bet. most people aren't going to be folding an overpair here and you're going to be losing money long term.
